Happy Birthday Davis! The BIG one-oh! He's hit double digits!

Davis celebrated his 10th birthday on Saturday, May 2 since his birthday fell on Monday this year. He had a pool party and invited his entire class at school, plus a few other friends.

For a whole month he has been asking for chickens for his birthday. I finally had to put my foot down and tell him to forget about the chickens because we already had too many animals - 3 dogs, a cat, 2 gerbils. Well, did he ever get the surprise of his short life. On Friday night, we told him that he was getting a surprise Saturday morning. It was to happen at 7 AM. At 6:45 he was in our room, ready for his surprise. We had to wait until 7 for Miller Trading Co. to open. When we drove up, his friend Griffin was there picking up his new rooster (he has had chickens for about 2 years). He knew right away what we were there to do - pick out his new chickens. He was soooo excited! Here they are:

Flame - a Rhode Island Red hen (guess what color she'll be?); Hawk - a Black Australorps hen (her feathers will be emerald green - I can't wait to see that!); Rex - a Barred Rock rooster (his feathers will be black and white speckled); and Tsunade (pronounced soo-nah'-day) - a California White hen (her feathers will be white with black specks scattered)
